Finance Analyst II, COC

Purpose of the Position:
This global finance role will be a proactive business partner, providing support for financial and operational decision making. In addition, this role will be a key contributor to the production of the Corning Optical Communications (COC) internal reporting and analysis, primarily contributing to monthly spend reviews, annual budgeting, and annual strategic planning activities, as well as, drive compliance with all Corning Optical Communications and Corning Inc policies and procedures. Lastly, this position will focus on process improvement for all COC Planning and Analysis activities, driving to create a world class organization.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Assist with the month-end closing process for all COC business units, including preparation of journal entries, variance analysis, accuracy of the general ledger and preparation of various analytical reports;
Coordinate IT functional spend analysis and reporting, working with business partners to review spending on a monthly basis and ensure completeness and accuracy of financials;
Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly department reviews with COC General & Administrative business partners to control costs, this involves researching and providing details on expense variances and communicating updates to forecasted spend;
Responsible for the budgeting process for COC General and Admin groups, as well as, functional groups (IT, Finance and HR), and assisting with consolidation of COC world-wide OPEX budgets;
Responsible for monthly CIP reviews of capital projects, report preparation, review of spending and timely capitalization of projects;
Prepare and deliver various budget presentations on system functionality and processes;
Training – be that on the job or formal training;
Assist Finance Manager – S&A and Director of P&A with various Ad Hoc financial analysis and modeling as requested
Supports compliance with internal and external controls, Sarbanes Oxley requirements, GAAP accounting principles, and Corning policy and procedures;
Partner with business partners of other functional groups to help them understand financial results, performance metrics and improve decision making capabilities through data;
Other projects supporting Optical Communications’ objectives and targets on an as needed basis.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
2-5 years’ experience
Previous manufacturing experience preferred

Demonstrated ability to process large amounts of data into simple, easily understood talking points;
Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and customers at the highest service levels;
Excellent problem-solving capabilities;
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people in different time zones/cultures;
Expertise in Excel, PowerPoint;
Desired Skills:
Performance Excellence experience (Six Sigma, lean processes) a plus;
Proficiency in PeopleSoft | SAP | Khalix (Longview) a plus
Power BI experience

Travel Requirements:
Hours of work/work schedule/flextime:
M-F, 40-hour week with additional hours as needed
