Job Summary

The Renewables Accounting team supports the Commercial Renewables Segment. Team members actively partner with the business to support a growing portfolio of non-regulated solar, wind, and distributed assets. The Accounting Analyst II – Renewables Accounting will be responsible for all compliance and reporting aspects of assigned solar and wind operating projects including various project deliverables (lender requirements under project/portfolio financings), internal reporting, interaction with various internal and external parties, and various compliance reporting. This role requires familiarity with a variety of accounting concepts, practices and procedures to assist with the compliance and reporting of the assigned projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong attributes for accuracy and will be highly detail-oriented.

This is the third level of the financial analysis classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve more complex problems, in financial areas of specialization, with moderate guidance and direction. Employees are building their knowledge of the organization, processes and customers. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence.

Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements for assigned project/portfolio financings

Prepare semi-annual Debt Service Coverage Ratio filings for assigned project/portfolio financings

Prepare semi-annual Production Tax Credit Fundings for assigned wind project/portfolio financings for submission to the lenders

Prepare various reports required for multiple joint venture relationships

Perform analytical reviews of assigned projects’ results

Lead the annual external audit for assigned project/portfolio financings

Become knowledgeable of assigned projects/portfolios by reviewing and understanding operating project and financing agreements

Ensure compliance with debt covenants, and any new applicable accounting standards

Interface with lenders, external auditors, vendors and consultants as required

Support internal reporting including segment results, quarterly SEC data requests and other required tasks

Prepare ad hoc requests for internal and external parties

Special projects as assigned

Basic/Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline

Three (3) or more years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree

Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures

Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft, HFM, PowerPlan, etc.) and query tool (WebI)

Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word and Power Point

Desired Qualifications

CPA or working toward CPA

Advanced degree, preferably in Accounting

Four (4) or more years of professional work-related experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures

Working knowledge of GAAP

Public accounting experience (Big Four/large regional)

Experience with company consolidation and limited liability company/partnership accounting

Experience with financial applications (i.e., HFM, SmartView, Cubes, etc.) and query tool (WebI)

Problem solving and analytical skills

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and foster good relationships with teammates and business partners

Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet stated deadlines

Experience with the Wdesk software

Experience with the Microsoft Power BI product

Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills

Working Conditions

Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to a Duke Energy facility.
