Important VITA Update - PLEASE READ

Greetings, 

I would like start of by thanking all those who have already signed up to
assist with this effort.  Your participation makes it possible for NABA
Charlotte Chapter to deliver on our promise to the greater Charlotte
community through VITA.  We are still in need of additional volunteers so if
you have not signed up please consider donating a fraction of your time
during this upcoming tax season.   

As in prior years our Charlotte chapter will continue to team up with AARP
(American Association of Retired Persons) for site coordination, facilities,
and training.  Prior communications contained a preliminary training
calendar, of which has changed.  PLEASE READ ALL of the following for
pertinent details:

Below are some key dates:

Saturday, December 8th 10am to 11am - Friendship Missionary Baptist Church
(Conference Room TBA)
Introduction of Volunteers to AARP-TaxAid - planning and Q&A session for new
and returning tax counselors.


Saturday, December 29th 10am to 12noon - Friendship Missionary Baptist
Church (Adult Fellowship Hall)
Volunteer Orientation - Initial training session and distribution of
training materials. Sign-up for sites.

Training schedule:

1.) In-person Training at IBM during the weekdays 
a.) January 7 through January 10 from 10am to 4pm - weekdays 
b.) January 14 through January 17 from 10am to 4pm. - weekdays 
c.) January 21 through January 24 from 10am to 4pm. - weekdays

2.) In-person Training at Freedom Regional Library during the weekends 
a.) January 5, 12, 19, 26 from 10am to 4pm - Saturdays

3.) On-line Training at IRS.gov - Link and Learn 
Complete Link and Learn on-line courses at IRS.gov to learn tax law. Two (2)
additional Saturdays in January (TBD) at Friendship for computer training.
